A First: Chabot Has Less Money in the Bank than Dem Challenger
CINCINNATI — For the first time, the Democratic Challenger in OH-01 is closing out Q2 with more cash on hand than Rep. Chabot. Greg Landsman will start the third quarter with $815,357 on hand while Chabot’s campaign reported $746,609 on hand.
Nationally, Landsman is the only challenger in a democratic-leaning district to report higher cash on hand than their Republican incumbent. Congressman Chabot raised $302,115 in the second quarter of 2022 while Democratic Nominee Greg Landsman raised $558,397 in the fight to flip OH-01.
“Chabot is in big trouble. This is the toughest district he’s ever had, and he’s having a hard time raising money, especially from folks here at home,” Landsman states. “But his transformation will hurt him the most: he has gone from an ineffective back-bencher to an active threat to our community. He’s the face of government-mandated pregnancies, the poster child of pay-to-play in DC, and he even tried to overturn the presidential election.”
Nearly half of Chabot’s total raised came from PACs and DC insiders. Financially, electorally and reputationally - Chabot enters the third quarter in a more vulnerable position than either 2018 or 2020.
